Spring break. You know the scene. Uninhibited revelry. Youthful self-indulgence. Partying, drinking and girls gone wild! Stop the tape.

Call CNN, Fox News and MTV. It seems there’s a group of young people that are seriously breaking the mold. They are doing unto others, they are loving their neighbor and changing their world.

They rise early and retire late.

They serve others selflessly by gutting flood damaged homes, assisting minority owned small businesses, tutoring inner-city youth and restoring order from chaos by meeting basic administrative and marketing needs of recovering ministries. They paint walls, build furniture, design logos, organize mailings. They awaken to reading the scriptures. They do not retire until they’ve pondered and internalized the hardest sayings of Christ and have considered the lofty character attributes of sacrifice, justice and mercy, redemptive suffering and of charity and love towards those who are poor. They raise their own support from willing donors. They encourage, smile and are grateful for the opportunity to serve.

Wow! If this is the next generation of young Christian leaders…then the church will indeed be in good hands. They have served their college in the most distinguished way. They have represented their college ministry as worthy emmissaries. They have honored their families and their hometowns at heroic levels. They have made us proud. And yet they will defer the credit and hope that their service was used by God for His glory. All I can say is…wow!

I know you will want to join me in honoring their service and in following their example. These 19 students from Georgia College’s Campus Outreach, we salute you and express our heartfelt gratitude!

On behalf of our entire team, we just want to thank Mo for the amazing opportunity of this past week. He showed us true love, hospitality, encouragement, incredible music, and inspired us to embrace a new path by imitating the pattern of Jesus Christ. To Mo, we are so grateful and to all his supporters, Mo is doing GREAT things in New Orleans and inspiring many others to follow in his footsteps! If not onboard, please join him and his efforts! God Bless to all and Happy Easter.

God used Mo to point a bunch of college students from Gerogia to the very clear message in the scriptures of how our Father is reaching out to the naked, hungry, and homeless; Accordingly, God also made us recognize where we stood in light of His plan. God challenged us with God’s commands of how His Church should operate and where we are falling short. Jesus Christ has blessed the city of New Orleans and everyone who was a part of this past week’s labors through Mo.  Mo is now trusting the Lord to provide partners that would come alongside and support the vision to see God multiply disciples of Jesus Christ among the inner city inhabitants of New Orleans and beyond. Please join him.

One Week in New Orleans
April 1, 2007

Though a short stint, a mere week, it was enough of a stay in New Orleans to have my life changed forever. After most conferences, retreats, or mission trips, the majority of people, including myself, return home with a euphoric high and enhanced vision. This trip was not like that in the least. I have returned to Milledgeville gut wrenched and longing for one more taste of New Orleans. I have returned a man who’s had his life and vision for the future turned upside down. The minute we left the New Orleans city limits on Highway 10, I began missing the very place I have fallen head over heals for. The people, the food, the landscape, the brokenness, the vision of Godly men, the word of God, the joy of fellowship, and the kids all played a huge role in my life this past week. The word came alive as Mo brought it forth with vigor and passion during Bible study. The same words, verses and stories that changed his life and ruined him altogether were rolling off his tongue and crushing us. The hour or two spent listening, observing and soaking in felt like mere seconds. Every night we went to bed I wanted more; I still long for more. I am fighting the agony of returning to the drudgery of schoolwork. I want to be with Mo and Richard and George. I want to be eating at Subway and gutting out houses. I want to be sitting next to Elton (Iron Head), sharing life with him. I want to be learning how to do urban ministry, and yet God has called me back to school. I know I must finish the next year strong here at Georgia College both academically and missionally. I desire to do just that. But it is so hard to be here, when my heart is still in Louisiana. I am a ruined man no doubt. I contribute Mo’s prayer and teaching combined with the experience of service to the blessed heartache I am currently experiencing. I know this to be true: I will never forget the two hours spent one on one with Mo driving around in his little Corolla, watching Richard multiply his life through his labor for Clark High School, hearing Richard’s testimony, soaking in the teaching in the cool New Orleans night time, and the great food we stuffed our stomachs with every day. These are only a few of the incredible memories I will cherish forever. The beauty of this trip was that it rocked me hard. So hard that I presently don’t know what to think. However the Lord chooses to equip me, I know I would love to enter into urban ministry and spend the rest of my life doing what Mo and Richard are striving to do this very moment. May God bless them and their families, and may God restore New Orleans.

You guys, along with the great city of New Orleans, have successfully pulled my heart and many others to what is being done there.
